Operator Technician II - Bay Minette - Baldwin County Commission

About the position

Responsibilities

• Operate various types of heavy/light equipment for the Highway Department.
• Perform maintenance inspections on assigned equipment and assist mechanics with repairs.
• Conduct routine manual labor as required, including using tools like chain saws and axes.
• Monitor equipment gauges and indicators for non-standard conditions during operation.
• Perform light maintenance and servicing of operated equipment.
• Notify supervisors of mechanical or safety issues with equipment.
• Assist with bridge repairs and install traffic signs for public safety.
• Direct traffic at job sites and perform related manual labor.

Requirements

• At least two (2) years of experience operating a minimum of seven (7) types of heavy equipment such as dump trucks, rollers, and backhoes/excavators.
• Moderate skills in the operation, maintenance, and safe use of trucks, tractors, and heavy equipment.
• Knowledge of traffic regulations and safety rules, including accident causes and prevention.
• Ability to work independently without close supervision.
